Super Mario Sunshine Gray Screen

So everytime I enter Bianco Hills right after defeting Shadow Mario at the begining of the game, my screen goes gray and my frames go to 0,
also i am able to select the shine sprite on the level select portion.

Are you running 5.0 stable or the latest dev build? Does it happen if you try the other?
What is the MD5 sum of your game iso?

i am running stable 5.0 now and i was able to get it to load kind of. There is a bunch of error messages popping up that say 
"Invalid read from <random characters>, PC = <random characters>

What about latest dev? Seriously, try it.

Those kind of errors can appear if the game is corrupted.

ive tried both and it still happens

Try turning dual core off.

Config > General > uncheck Dual Core.
