Hi, trying to run Mario Galaxy here and it's getting maybe 20 FPS ingame, which makes for an extremely slow experience. I'm sure this isn't my graphics card's problem, since I can set the resolution to "native" or 1680x1050 with little impact (if any) on framerate.

At the beginning screen, I get 60FPS, which drops to 40 when I select a game file. After making a new game, during the intro cutscene, I get maybe 22 FPS during this 2D part. After that, at the toad festival, I get 15-18 FPS (with no music, to boot). Disabling all graphical features does nothing to improve performance, nor does disabling all sound. Anyone got any ideas?

Oh, almost forgot. I've tried this on like 6 different builds of Dolphin since the one that was released early this July that said it could play Mario Galaxy well, but all have identical results. I have not tried other games, since ripping Mario Galaxy took an age and a half... I might try another time though.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 3.0Ghz
4GB DDR2 1066 RAM
ATI Radeo x1900XT-512

OS: Vista Business x64

Settings:

Dolphin Configuration (listing items that ARE checked)
-Enable Dual Core
-Enable Idle Skipping
-HLE the BIOS all the time
-Enable the JIT dynarec
-Lock Threads to cores
-Optimize Quantizers
-LLE DSP on thread
-Use Panic Handlers, Framelimit is OFF

Wii Tab: none checked, 16:9 enabled

Plugins: Dolphin OpenGL, DSP-HLE, Wiimote plugin

OGL Config:

Internal Res: doesn't matter, right now it's at 848x480
-Auto Scale checked
AF: 4x
AA: off
Postprocessing: off

Nothing checked in the Graphics->advanced tab. Mario Galaxy Hack is being used, though changing it doesn't have an effect, and EFB copy is set to Copy to GL texture, though again, all three settings have no impact.

HLE/Audio is currently disabled.
PS: checked CPU usage stats, and it's using from 50-80% of the CPU time, which I find odd- if the CPU is the bottleneck, shouldn't it be using 100%?

I think its your PC that can't provide better performence but hey thats just me. Overclocking might increase your performence a bit but what about you try to play a bit? Go through the intro till you reach the first planet, your fps should be better there.

In my experiences,AMD-ATI’s graphic card is much slower than NV's graphic card.I have AMD-ATI HD4670 and nv7300GT,all games I test on dolphin, the result is HD4670 about 25% slower than nv7300GT.My cpu is E8400. The cpu usage wiht NV7300GT is higher than with HD 4670.

So the problem could be the graphics card, only geometry/shader-related and not memory-related (resolution increase)... I'll see about it.

My CPU won't budge over 3GHz without a TON of voltage, so I'm keeping it there (its default speed was 2.53GHz).

It's not that it runs a little choppy, it's that it runs at 1/4 - 1/3 the speed it should run. Like Mario runs 1/4 as fast as he should-- getting through the intro cutscene and the toad party thing takes 5 minutes... and that's not even the "Bowser taking the castle" cutscene.

I can't promise you anything but I'm gonna say many people (including myself) have this game running much slower than before all the fixes, while many claim it runs better than before. I had 40 FPS in the observatory then, (Now it's 20-25), and Shuffle2 said there's definitely some troubles to fix (at least with Nvidia cards) so hopefully things will get sped up. With SSBB I get amazing 55-60 FPS with Windows 7 64-bit. This game gives thatmuch FPS only when there's really few polygons around.
Specs: intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz;
16Gb RAM; Raedon HD 7900;
Win8 64-Bit

SMG is not really fast for anyone, except maybe that guy with his crazy 4.0ghz overclocked I7. More work is needed to get it to run smoothly on the machines of mere mortals....

What games are you testing? The 4670=3870 (respin and shrunk and new arch) which destroys the 7300gt. The 7300gt is a piece of @%I@#

"Disable Destination Alpha Pass" sped up the game significantly. In the "story time" intro, it's getting 37FPS instead of 20, and mario running around gets 25 instead of ~18, but on the first intro planet, I get almost 40. That one setting made a world of difference.
