Super Mario Galaxy Question

Hi, i got a little trouble here. I got the first star and was send to the observatory. When i enter the first dome it says "aim at the pullstar and press A to fly to it" but when i do so nothing happens i just jump as usual with A.

Anyone was able get this done ?
