Super Mario Galaxy, mapping a gamepad for the Rolling Green galaxy

Any thoughts about Super Mario Galaxy, Fountain (area 2), Rolling Green (galaxy 2 - on the Wii, you vertically orient the Wiimote, to roll around the course while balanced on a ball), using a gamepad as an emulated wiimote? Terrace (area 1), Loopdeeloop (galaxy 4 - I think; It's the penguin waterslide racecourse, shaped like a figure 8) is just BARELY configurable on a single gamepad (the XBox controller clone, Logitech F310, for the record), while maintaining other control functionality/usability, but Rolling Green has me baffled. My left analog stick is mapped to the Nunchuk stick, for movement. My right analog stick is mapped to the IR emulator, for basic pointer control. Separate from the left and right analog triggers (which I end up using quite successfully for Loopdeeloop), I don't have another stick available for rolling around on a ball. Anyone ever come up with a solution for this, assuming of course you don't have your Wiimote/Nunchuk handy? Rolleyes Alternately, is it possible to map more than one controller to a single player?

You have to use the "Upright Wiimote" option under the wiimote settings. It's still a bit fiddly but I found that option works best with Rolling Galaxy. After passing Rolling Galaxy, you'll have to turn the option off again.

Thanks skid. Yeah, I have in fact discovered the "upright" feature, and I'd agree that it's passable. The fiddly part about it for me is, the Wiimote infra-red pointer doesn't really map to an analog gamepad stick when the "upright" feature is selected, and so I really don't have an option for collecting star fragments except by running over them. I hope there isn't some aspect of the game that I discover later that requires collecting a maximum of star fragments from Rolling Green (or other levels like it) in order to win. I still haven't tried it, because it would be REALLY clumsy, but I may have to set up another gamepad to hold in my other hand, just for star fragments. Or just buck up and replace my Wiimote Undecided

Think with a real wiimote, you can't have it upright and have IR pointer at the same time Wink

Good point, lol. I don't remember how that works, then. No star bit collection w/ pointer at all in that level to complete then, should I assume?
