After about 3 hours of tweaking and fixing and general derpage I managed to get a copy of Super Mario Galaxy working on Dolphin. (You guys should really change "mouse movement" input to "mouse location" on your joystick/IR inputs. Took me at least an hour to figure it out.) Anyway, everything was working fine and I was enjoying the game like I never could on my horrible TV.
Then I got to Freezeflame Galaxy.
The first level worked like a charm. I was experiencing reflection issues where instead of reflection, it just didn't change what it looked like before I was looking at a reflection, but distorted. Don't worry if you don't understand what I'm talking about, that's not my central issue. I am just saying I noticed it in the ice ring at the beginning.
Then, in level 2, I get to the "flame" side of Freezeflame. And it is the most annoying bug feature in Dolphin I have ever seen. The top 7/8 of the screen just doesn't render. At all. I am stuck with the picture I had upon landing from the Launch Star. The screen will render, twice. Both the first time I ground-pound and the first time I spin jump will render the screen again. The bottom 1/8 of the screen stays normal, although the heat ripple looks seriously weird.
Anyone got pointers? I planned on getting a 100% completion, and there's no way in hell I can finish the level under those conditions.
Also, can someone try this themselves and see whether the same thing happens to you?

That sounds odd. Can you grab the latest dev build and see if it still happens?

Does this happen on both D3D and OpenGL? This might be something related to Intel HD drivers, but that kind of bugs usually only affect either D3D or OpenGL.
If this can be confirmed with other GPUs then it's probably something broken in Dolphin.

Just tried it. Didn't render AT ALL. Not even the first part with the ice. At least I got that far last time.

Thanks, man. D3D did it.
Lags like you wouldn't believe and power stars look derpy as hell, but it's playable. Thanks.

Sounds like Intel drivers being stupid as per usual.
Do a google search for Intel driver update utility, download and run it to make sure you have the latest graphics driver installed.

I feel like Intel HDs are progressively getting worse.

They add new things/fix bugs at the rate that they add new bugs in it seems
