Description

I get around 59.9 FPS during the initial wiimote warnings. Then when the game kicks in and the main Mario Brothers Wii screen appears I get about 20 FPS. Then during save/load screen and number of player screen I get around 59.9 FPS. Durning the map world I get around 35FPS. During game play I get around 17FPS MAX which makes gameplay pretty much impossible.

Problem

I get 17 FPS MAX during gameplay which is practically unplayable.

Any suggestions or efforts to help solve this problem would greatly appreciated. I know the Wii console is still fairly new and do not expect any emulator to play Wii games without flaws but I hear on the forum that players with dual core processors and lower computer specs are getting playable FPS so I figure the settings are just not right.

Thank you

1. the term quad core is not specific enough and your should state the model number and company and frequency (like mine is Intel Core 2 Quad q6600 at 2.4 GHz)

2. I would switch to Direct3D or DirectX instead of OpenGl (since your using Windows) if you want more speed.
And copy EFB to Texture.

You should see a speed boost. Smile but you should also update to one of the latest rev.

Have you tried the directx plugin instead of opengl?

I use directx.
enable safe texture cache
enable EFB copy to texture
I have frame limit to 60 (dont know if it matters, but works for me.
Disabled confirm on stop

Optomize Quantizers????? If you still have that option i guess you are on a really old rev...

Thanks for all the information guys. I actually thought I downloaded the most recent version because I downloaded it from http://www.dolphin-emu.com/downloads.php?cat_id=7 which I thought was THE Dolphin website. I tried to navigate to http://www.dolphin-emu.org/ as badman suggested but all I get is a

Revision 32 Bit 64 Bit Date
r5089 Compiling... Compiling... 2010-02-20

Cant seem to download anything because it is compiling? Any ideas? Never seen that before.

Once I get a hold of the newest version I will try all the stated changes.

UPDATE

Never mind I got. Trying to newest build 5086
Alright downloaded new build but do not have the option for Direct 3D. I did not have the option in the earlier version as well. Do I need to download Direct 3D plugin or is it supposed to come with it?

You guys are awesome. Updated the Direct X through microsoft, downloaded the most recent revision of Dolphin and changed the settings around as you guys said and it practically runs like on the Wii except a couple levels that have a lot of things moving at one time it tends to slow down a little. Thanks for the help.

I have the exact same Problem. FPS drop at certain stages, although I have a pretty nice PC (look at my Signature). For example in stage 2-little Castle (the one between 2-3 and 2-4), FPS drop down to around 40 at several points. I figured, there seems to be a bug in the framelimiter.

The following "Trick" works excellently for me (60 Frames at any stage):
Framelimiter: Off
V-Sync: On (100+ FPS with V-Sync disabled, down to 40 FPS with Framelimiter)
Enable Audio Throttle: Off

This might be perfect just for me, since my monitor has a native vertical sync of 60 Hz.

Here's my complete setup for a perfect new Mario:
