So, yet another Goo problem with Sunshine. I've followed the settings in the Wiki to a T, and while I can see the goo and it isn't blocky... it seems to uhh... remove itself? Like I can actually stand there and watch it melt away. Where am I going wrong?

Currently I'm using Dolphin 5.0-11898, and I've attached pictures with my settings. Usually I use the Vulkan backend, but when I took these screenshots I was trying OpenGL in an effort to figure this out in my confusion.

Turn off Skip EFB Access from CPU and Store EFB Copies to Texture Only. (The settings in bold shouldn't be changed while the game is running unless you're sure what you're doing.)

Just tried it (Don't know why they were enabled in that screenshot to begin with); no change.

You can't touch in any of the options that are in bold while the game is running. Doing so will override the values defined on the game INI and will result in various issues with the goo...

Okay...  still doesn't change the fact that when I disabled those options, it didn't have an effect.  I might sound a little more accusatory than I mean to be; but do you not believe me, or just assume I didn't read what JosJuice said?

You screenshot is clearly showing "Force Texture Filtering", "Skip EFB Access from CPU" and "Store EFB Copies to Texture Only" as enabled, which isn't how these options are configured on the default game INI for Super Mario Sunshine that ships with Dolphin. Additionally, the default game INI doesn't define "Scaled EFB Copy" nor "Anisotropic Filtering" values, yet these options are displaying in bold as well, another indicative that you either created a custom game INI (manually or through Dolphin itself) or edited the default game INI from the Sys folder (which you shouldn't).

Like JosJuice said earlier, don't change these options unless you're sure on what you're doing. You changed them anyway and that's why you're having issues with the goo.

You're right; I'm sorry.  I'll admit I didn't quite understand how Dolphin's configuration system worked, and the difference between Sys/GameINI and User/GameINI.  Now I understand where the problem was, and where I screwed up etc.  I was in a crap mood earlier, so sorry about being a bit of an asshole.

All that being said, I've got progress, but still have issues; the ever-present blocky goo (I swear I'm not being stupid this time).  I went and got a fresh nightly from Dolphin, and I'm starting from a fresh install, I always use portable installs, and just back up the saves and other things I need (and now am doing GameINI correctly).  Now the goo works, and doesn't disappear itself, but it's blocky even with this (and only this for the moment, I'm going to be adding 60FPS and Widescreen right after this post) in my gameINI.  At this point I'm a bit scared to start exploring the settings myself with this game, seems like it's a pretty easy one to break.

EDIT: well now this is odd.... It's blocky in some places and not others now

I wonder if Arbitrary Mipmaps have something to do with this... (That´s another option that is not supposed to be changed).
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

That only affects visual things like water rendering as far as I know.

AFAIK the goo blockiness can't be solved without disabling "Scaled EFB Copies" or without running at native internal resolution, however, both will negate the improvements of running the game with a higher internal resolution...
