The G3258 can overclock to the levels of the i5-4690K/i7-4790K, and will perform just like them in Dolphin. Even with a mild overclock say to 3.8 Ghz, it will trash the i5-3570K at 4.2 Ghz and higher.
Suggestions for upgrading my PC Please!!

I thought someone here did a quick and dirty estimate about how a g3258 performs slightly worse than a 4690k/4790k due to the quad core being able to offload background processes onto the unused cores (don't quote me on this).

Keyword there is "slightly"
The difference is trivial, especially when the cost of the 4690k/4790k is brought into play. Plus you can easily combat that by closing unnecessary applications and killing processes that you know are safe to kill.

When I say it performs just like them, I meant that it was slightly below. Could have been more clear with that.
NaturalViolence worked it out somewhere in these forums with me, and its like the G3258 at 4.6 is like the i5/i7 at 4.2 or 4.3 (I think, it's been a while) 01-23-2015, 10:13 AM

Yeah, I remember reading that thread, I just can't remember exactly. Either way short of games like the last story (which is hard to play on anything) , it should be plenty. 01-26-2015, 08:43 PM

However, I have to keep my graphics settings quite low and I do get some stuttering and low frame rates on the more demanding games. I am wanting to be able to run full HD quality and smooth as silk. If you were me what would you do to beef up this system to run dolphin and others like PS2 emulation smoother? Upgrade the graphics card vs processor vs building a new system from scratch?? my computer hardware is even worse than you!! but i was able to run dolphin perfectly with any games!!! just check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g2oQ1TCWxM 01-27-2015, 10:11 AM
That is literally what we recommended who comes in here: grab the latest dev build and try at 1x IR
