Suggestion to emulate the IR sensor

I've recently been playing Skyward Sword on a real Wii U, and I found its constant need to calibrate the Wii Motion Plus annoying. What's especially annoying is that it wants me to do it for the cursor's position on the screen, as that could simply be done with the IR sensor. But then, it gave me an idea:

Is it possible to do something similar with Dolphin to make it so that it can emulate the IR sensor for real Wii Motes? That way, we don't have to set up an IR sensor for our computer. Basically, the on-screen cursor's positon would be determined based on the angle of the Wii mote and a pre-set "distance from screen" number in the controller options.

If it's possible, would anyone on the team be willing to implement this feature? Or is it already a feature and I just didn't realize it?

If we did that, it wouldn't be especially accurate for long periods of time.

As far as i know, Skyward Sword uses the WM+ and the IR sensor at the same time. But since it doesn't give you any indication if you are pointing at the screen, it relies on the WM+ only most of the time, since you won't point it correctly at the sensor bar. I think the WM+ sensor doesn't "sense" the 3D position and vector of the wiimote, more like changing that direction, detecting rotation direction and speed on one of the 3 axises. This would be why it needs recalibration all the time, but if it can see the IR sensor bar, it can recalibrate itself constantly, without the manual calibration.

Well, that's just how i think it works, i'm likely to be wrong. Anyways, if your got a good sensor bar(bright LEDs, no broken ones) and the Wiimote is facing the sensor bar in the your "middle" position, you should have less problems.

You're not wrong, that exactly how Skyward Sword works. From when I played, I remember some rare cases where Link would hold the sword awkwardly, especially after some prolonged combats. Holding the Wiimote still while it was pointing the sensor bar for some seconds were enough to automatically re-calibrate and correct this whenever it happened...
