Stuttering in games with solid framerate

Hello there!
I've recently gotten back into gaming after my son recently moved away from home and have been wanting to play all the classic games i used to with him, our gamecube doesnt work so i've been using dolphin to play Harvest Moon on the gamecube.

But i've noticed with that game, and a lot of others i have i get a lot of stuttering. I use fraps to show my framerate and it tells me its at 30 consistently, but when i am playing at times i judders about and looks very unsmooth/unsettling, I have tried default video settings aswell as more complex ones but none seem to help.

Is there anything i am missing or have made a mistake on?

You're probably hitting shader compilation. This happens whenever you play a new game in Dolphin / update video drivers / update Dolphin.

It should go away as you play the game and shaders get cached.

I see, so i take it it compiles them as you go so once they are accessed again it's a lot faster on loading?
I remember thinking my computer had an issue when i was playing stuff like Unreal games and the loading stutter between levels. I think i notice these things more than others do at times

Also don't use fraps, Dolphin has a built-in FPS counter

Try the Ishiiruka build, it loads the shaders cache asynchronously.

No, it compiles shaders asynchronously. The shader cache is loaded synchronously at startup.

It also breaks shader effects until they're compiled. As well as crashes whenever the wind blows. Smile
