Hi Guys,

Having some problems with Mario Kart Wii.

The game particularly stutters when in the menus, and at the beginning of races.

When playing with 3 players the whole game becomes very stuttery.

I've used a fresh install several times and some newer builds, same problem.

PC:
i7 870 @ 3.3Ghz, AMD R9 270x, 4GB Ram, Windows 8.1

Any help appreciated, cheers.

EDIT

My friend also has the same problem with an i7 3770, AMD 7970, 8GB Ram, Windows 8.1

MK Wii is sort of CPU and GPU demanding. In your case, you´re being CPU-bottlenecked. Keep in mind that multiplayer mode needs more resources to not lag.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

The beginning of races are demanding as lots of things are being generated, and the menus have those weird video effects on the menu items which are quite demanding as well. There's really nothing that can be done at the moment.

Cheers for the feedback guys.

Is it normal for it to stutter at 60fps? Often it will stutter and Dolphin reports it jumps to 62fps (I've tried v-sync and capping the fps to 60)

Depends on latency between you and your GPU if the video stutters at full speed. Microstutter is unfortunately common, especially at higher internal resolutions.

Again thanks for the feedback, will try tweaking some more for multiplayer.

Is there any way to set the internal resolution to lower than native?

Older revisions had the option for 0.5x IR. The latest revisions don't, however, you can set the IR to Auto (Window Size) and manually shrink the window.
