Hi there,

I'm using dolphin on my (beefy) gaming rig and it's just AWESOME. But when i do, i usually carry my PC downstairs to the living room to connect it to the TV to get the "real" experience. That's why i play GC / Wii games less often as i'd like.

On friday, i've bought a surface pro 3 (i3 version) and so i "discovered" Steam Inhome Streaming. It works perfectly for Steam games and i also got GC games (and a few other emulators) running with the streaming client *yay*, but i couldn't figure out how to use the Wiimote while streaming dolphin through steam.
Has anybody tried that and got it running? Couldn't find anything helpful on google. Just very old threads and unanswered questions.

The Wiimote isn't treated like a standard XInput/DInput gamepad as Dolphin has to talk to it exactly how the Wii would. Steam In-Home Streaming doesn't give Dolphin access to the bluetooth adapter of the client machine, though, so Dolphin can't do what it needs to.

Oh ok, thanks for the explanation! I already expected something like that, but i was not sure if it can't be "tunneled" through some tools or something.

Then i'll have to keep moving my PC, but at least it's working for GC! Smile

Well, you might still be able to use your wiimote. It just depends on how good a bluetooth receiver you have and how much distance/obstructions you have in the way between where your computer is normally set up and where your television is. I have a similar set up myself and was pleasantly surprised to find that my wiimote synced to my computer, located on my home's second floor in the corner, from all the way on my first floor at the opposite corner. So, the steam stream essentially just supplied the audio and video, and I just controlled dolphin directly.

If you haven't tried it, give it a shot. If it works, you won't need to lug your computer around, and if it doesn't, it should only be a few minutes wasted. You could also try plugging the bluetooth receiver into a USB extension cord to bring it closer to where your tv is as well. Anyway, good luck.

You could also try a really long USB extension cable in case that extends the range far enough.
