Strange issue with C Stick cross Analog

I ordered a gamecube usb controller off of amazon and am having a strange issue. There seems to be a tie between the analog and c stick, that is, when I move one in a certain direction the Dolphin controller configuration shows the red dots on the other moving. I will attach pics below showing what happens. I looked up the issue and it seems other people have c stick problems but not like this one.

As an aside, the controller came with a small disc that people seem to assume contains drivers - could this be the issue? I use a macbook air and so I cannot insert the disc without buying an external disc drive. The issues specifically looks like:

Up Analog: Works
Left Analog: Left C Stick
Up C Stick: Slight left analog and upper left c stick
Left C Stick: Nothing

I would question the quality of a USB controller such as that, but maybe drivers would fix it (assuming they even work on mac).
