Agreed. I think this could quell some of the objections. The folks who oppose the change (like myself) just need to be assured they can quickly and easily keep their per game installs, settings, memcards, etc.

As long as everything is stored in the "User" folder, and I can copy and paste / move it between builds, I think that solution is perfect.

(Personally I'd rather figure out a way to get the internal folders there named to match the games they represent.)

Add a custom path option for the LLE files and store the config files in my documents and I'm sold.

Right now I have to copy/paste my config files and LLE files over every time. My memcards and NAND are stored on an external drive with the path set in the config files.

That would be very useful. I always forget to copy them over, plus It's very easy as of now to accidentally upload a build with the LLE files in them.

Thumbs Up
Please keep the settings confined to the User folder inside the Dolphin folder, I'm so sick of having shit stored all over the place whether it's in Documents, ProgramData or User>AppData whatever, I like that Dolphin is a self contained portable program, its not hard for people to copy the User folder between builds so I'm not seeing the issue here.

I'm not necessarily against this being an optional choice for people to set a directory location they want, but don't take away how it works currently. And don't you dare do something dumb like ePSXe and start writing to the registry. Tongue

Fake Edit: I know this wouldn't be trivial, but why not go the route of something like this [Image: wsDucH8.png], this is standard for any emulator nowadays and just makes sense.

You still need to copy over the config files each time. Which makes bisects take a lot longer.

You can just put every exe in the same folder for that lol.

I support this idea of storing the user directory globally, it's so much better, saved time and possible errors too
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.
