*IGNORE THE FRAMERATE IN THE UPPER CORNER PLEASE - That's not the problem. I'm not that inept. I only did this so that I could try a bunch of different settings in a short amount of time.

I've tried various builds and various settings but when I went back to play StarFox: Assault the other day, I found that any time I tried to change my control settings the game would hang. This is a problem because it prevents me from creating new user profiles. Obviously, it didn't used to do this because I have a couple of user profiles created already.

This is the error it gives me on Dolphin 3.0. And yes, I've tried the latest build:

Basically, that error dialogue comes up and the audio starts looping like some broken record and the game becomes unresponsive.

I put all of the settings to their bare minimums and I've tried the different graphics plug-ins and whatnot. I've tried it using a keyboard and no controller. Still no luck.

Audio is set to "DSound" as the wiki page recommends.
If anybody has some settings that are verified working for them for StarFox: Assault I think it would be a helpful troubleshooting step if they could share them and I could try it out.

I'm sorry if I haven't provided enough information. If there's anything additional you'd like to know then please feel free to ask.

Thanks for your help!

It looks like the game is running way too fast, try setting the frame limit to "auto". This may or may not be the fix, but I have a few games that act strangely when you let the fps run wild like that.

That's not the problem. I forgot to mention that I disabled the framerate limit so I could reach the menu faster and try out a bunch of different settings.

Any other ideas?

You mentioned getting audio issues followed by freezing. This game is pretty demanding, but you should be able to handle it using LLE audio. If you need to, just use LLE audio to make/change profiles, save, then switch to HLE. Alternatively, you can try using the latest build from the new-ax-hle branch (browse down to see it) to see if that helps.

I just tried using both of the LLE options and that special build you mentioned. Same kind of thing except instead of looping audio it just makes a buzzing noise and there is no error dialogue (there isn't an error dialogue on any of the more recent builds either).

Nothing seems to be working so far. Sad

Any other suggestions?

Make sure that you have a good dump of the disc. The iso/gcm should be 1,459,998,720 bytes in size.

The change control settings screen works fine for me in 3.0-870. Maybe try creating a new blank memory card via Dolphin's memory card manager.

I am using XAudio, DSP LLE Recompiler, DSP on thread, 48000hz.

Under Graphics, there is nothing checked under the hacks screen.

Thanks a lot skid! I guess my ISO got corrupted somehow and I re-dumped it so now it works perfectly.

Thanks again!
