Ive been trying to get rogue squadron 2 running at 60 fps at 4k but every time i seem to get to the hoth level the game seems to chug really hard or out right crash.
knowing my PCs specs it should be no problem, what settings should i run for this specific game at 4k?

Nothing runs RS2 perfectly except for maybe post-skylake class CPUs clocked to the moon.

The RS games are the most demanding games to emulate correctly. There is nothing you can do. Play it on a real GC/Wii if you want a serviceable experience any time soon.

If I remember correctly my i5-8600k @5.1ghz on all 6 cores ran the game fine. The cpu is pretty mid range and isn't too expensive used. But I'm sure anything below that will struggle. What about using Vulkan and GPU texture decoding to take some of the stress of the cpu?

That CPU is literally what I said. Post Skylake clocked to the moon. Dolphin only cares about two fast threads

Texture decoding has nothing to do with why RS sucks on dolphin

Oh okay. I can't remember why RS was so demanding could you refresh me on that? Didn't it have to do with the engine or some effect the game used?

It's not really any specific effect, it's more that the game just does a ton of stuff and tries to squeeze every bit of power out of the hardware in various ways.
