I have tried for some time to try find a solution to this (over a year) and can't find any solution.
When playing Star Fox Adventures (EUR) when activating AR Codes the games frame rate will drop from nearly 60fps to 2-3fps.
I am on the latest version as of downloading off the site yesterday (5.0-16380) and it was a clean install on a new laptop that is capable of running the emulator, MSI GE62VR Apache Pro.
