Stable build won't register controller, Dev Build doesn't run as smoothly

The title gives the gist of my problems. For some reason when I try to boot up the standard 5.0 version of Dolphin my controller has weird issues. It registers the A button, the axes, and the D-Pad, but none of the other face buttons, the start/select buttons, or the triggers. I don't know why it does this, though, because I used to be able to use it but after not using dolphin for a while and coming back it stopped working, so I tried updating my drivers and such but that didn't work

Meanwhile, the 5.0-10617 build registers my controller perfectly fine but refuses to run as smoothly for most games (it runs the Metroid Prime games better because Ubershaders really helps but everything else has to have their settings lowered from the standard build). For example, I can run Hitman 2 at 3x resolution, 4x MSAA, and various other enhancements at 60 FPS on the 5.0 build but on 5.0-10617 build can't get above 45 FPS at minimum settings except for a weird fix I found by running the emulated CPU at 50% which I think works because Hitman 2 has a variable frame rate and at 100% it tries to run at 60 but at 50% it just jumps down to 30 immediately but that means that in the places where the game normally drops to 30 it ends up dropping to 15.

Basically, I'd like to know if anyone else has any idea what's up with my controller settings and if not is anyone has tips to help with the dev build running faster

Dolphin has gotten more accurate and has tons of fixes in the newer builds. Odds are your controller issue was fixed during some rewrite.

If you bisect to the build that reduced the performance, we can maybe see if it was a regression rather than a consequence of an accuracy improvement.

Okay, just to be clear you're saying I should go through different builds until I find the latest one it works on? I just want to make sure before I spend hours downloading different builds and find out there was an easier way to do this

Since Hitman 2 is the game I had the worst issues with I only tested this with it. I probably should have checked with a few other games but I managed to narrow down a build so I figured whatever was causing most of my issues probably stemmed from there and if I have any other issues I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. I checked builds and I found the latest build that works is 6566. 6568 has the same slow down issue and 6567 isn't on the master download page. If anyone has time to look into what causes this, I also have a list of builds I tried.

5146 is the earliest build I tried because I just decided to start from when Ubershaders was added. Whatever bug was making my controller inactive was still here but this is the only build that had the issue, so somewhere between it and 6265. Since its a bug that was already fixed I doubt anyone really cares at this point.

Builds 7929, 6960, 6614, and 6568 all had the same issue I was having before.

Builds 6265, 6438, 6526, 6545, 6558, 6562, and 6566 all worked.

I wish I had any kind of technical knowledge to give any more insight to this but I don't. I feel dumb for having to ask for help when the answer was to revert to older builds and I can't narrow down the issue but I hope if anyone does look into this that my list was able to help a little

5.0-6568 is PR#6451, where MMU was just enabled by default for everything. Might be that your CPU can't handle it?

If you want, you can right click the game, and disable make "Enabled MMU" an empty box. That'll restore behavior to what it was in the older build.

Wow, you guys are the most helpful support team I’ve ever had the pleasure of asking for help from. That fixed it right up and might even help clear up issues in other games!
