Bug
I'm playing THPS4 and I'm having a small issue that isn't listed in the Wiki. I'm using version 5.0-15445 installed via Flatpak on Zorin OS 16, OpenGL 3.1 Mesa 22.0.0-devel, my CPU is Intel Core i5-2320, my iGPU is Intel HD Graphics 2000 and I have 6 GB of RAM. The shadows below my character render incorrectly, the video below shows the problem (the framerate is due to the capture software, the game runs smoothly for me).

Video

I am not sure if I should create a ticket on the bug tracker since this could be a problem with my own computer.

Also, Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!

It might be that the intel hd 2000 doesn't meet the minimum for dolphin. Intel hd 4000 is the minimum since it supports direct 11 fully. The Intel hd 2000 only support 10.

I'm using the OpenGL backend though, so I'm not sure that could be it, unfortunately.

Hi, I tried to post earlier but for some reason it didn't show up. I think that perhaps that's not the cause because I'm using the OpenGL backend, not DirectX.

Edit: oops, posted both by accident now. Big Grin

I use direct x as a reference since I use to it more in it version number. However this would still apply to opengl though as it below the minimum for opengl also. For the record I'm aware the mac/Linux doesn't use direct x at all. For more info

You're right, I think that might be it. I had the suspicion that it could be a Dolphin error. Do you think I should record a fifolog and post here? I've never done it before but it could help narrow down the problem further.. Thank you for the help!

It likely your gpu only support opengl 3.1 and dolphin needing 4.3. It possible that it is dolphin doing, but it more likely some dolphin doing that you gpu don't support and cause issue that might not have occur if it was at the minimum intel hd 4000 or better gpu. Do you have a different system with a newer gpu\igpu that you could try to see if it does it. It could be something with that os that cause it. I generally just use windows and rarely use linux(most ubuntu or a variant). I never use mac outside of the few minutes I did with my sister core duo(first gen) macbook.

I tested on a newer Windows laptop and it looked good there. I also tested on Linux Mint 19.2, an older distro installed on my computer, and it also had the same issue, so it is indeed likely related to my GPU. Just to clarify I'm using a nkit.iso file, but that probably doesn't mean much because on Windows I used this same file. Thought I'd point out because of the warning when you load  a nkit.iso file that it can cause some issues. Thank you for your help and again, merry Christmas!!!!

Were you also using the Flatpack version on Linux Mint 19.2? Have you tried compiling Dolphin yourself from source? https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Building_Dolphin_on_Linux

KHg8m3r, I'm replying from a different account because I forgot my password for QuiNews and Gmail is acting up and won't let me login, and also sorry for the late reply. Yes, I used the Flatpak version in Linux Mint, I didn't know that it being the Flatpak version could affect the graphics. I haven't tried building Dolphin myself because I find it kind of difficult, and I think the weird shadow isn't that big of a deal anyway. If it helps with anything, I tested the software renderer and the square shadow doesn't appear with it, but I noticed the background of the loading screens doesn't show up for some reason. These are the only errors I could find playing the game (I'm at 67% completion, the remaining missions are the hardest ones that I haven't beaten yet), I noticed there are some very specific "alpha blending" errors in certain objects throughout the game but they are present in console as well and sometimes my character will get a weird blue "tint" like as if he was being illuminated by a blue light, which I am not sure if it's present in console as I don't remember seeing it happen there but it also happens with the software renderer as well.

Here are some images:

https://imgur.com/a/z1kH6uI

The first one is showing an alpha blending issue that happens on console as well (look at the leaves, there are some other more noticeable alpha blending issues but this is the one that I managed to capture), the second one is showing the broken loading screen in the software renderer. I couldn't capture the blue tint issue I mentioned.
