I've lately been reading on the forums that Dolphin builds have been progressively getting faster, and I was wondering about version 4.0 or 4.0.2, which will give me a faster emulation speed? currently using an i5 3570k
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

There would be no difference. They are referring to development builds.

4.0.1 and 4.0.2 only have a few major bug/crash fixes over 4.0. There's no speed difference there. As MaJoR said, the dev builds are the ones that are a fuckton faster.
