Is it possible to have the speaker data output through the system speakers when using a real controller? Or is there a reason something like wouldn't work?

No, this is not possible. When using a real wiimote, Dolphin communicates with the Wiimote in a sorta pass-through mode. The game controls the wiimote speaker directly and Dolphin does not get a chance to manipulate the speaker data. Hence, it can't redirect the data to your PC's speakers. It would be able to if a emulated wiimote were used.

Have you tried Hybrid Wiimote with blank bindings? In theory it may work...

haha I've tried that, it just seems to break IR on the wiimote itself, among other things.

I see, I was afraid of something like that. Thanks for the reply!

Open the home menu while playing the game and turn the wiimote speaker volume all the way down. The game will then play the wiimote sounds through the main speakers.
