I have what most people would call a very low end computer. Not a "gaming machine" by any means. Its a LGA1156 i5-650 only 2 cores, a Geforce 640 (whoopee) and I'm happy to have it. The cpu runs cool and quiet at 4ghz and thats about all I need. Now onto the main idea I wanted to *cough* troll about. Is it really that important that you have 60fps? I mean honestly. I see people who say things like you can't play that, don't bother etc etc. I can run The Last Story which I hear is one of the harder games to emulate, at a decent 35-42 frames per second. Its the pal version, I don't think its meant to truly go above 50 (correct me if Im wrong) On top of that I run it with 16x Antialiasing, 4xMSAA at 2.5 res. I understand the desire or sometimes the need,to run things at the speed they are meant to be run.For instance F-zero GX looks and runs like crap any lower than 50 fps. To me though when it looks like normal, sounds like normal, with the right frame skipping, or vps it just doesn't matter that much.Hell Im old enough to remember when Pong Pac-man and Galaga, were NEW. I've been gaming since way before the ESRB existed and the coolest game in the arcade was asteroids. So is it me, or is it just personal preference to have a game draw itself so fast? Any thoughts?
Sorry for my obvious trolling but..

Not every game runs at 60FPS. The Last Story, for example, is a game that runs at 30FPS. Any higher will just speed up the game.
I find it hard to believe you average around 35-42FPS throughout the whole game. (unless recent commits have somehow increased performance) How far are you in the game? Your CPU is actually pretty decent, especially at 4GHz. The only weakpoint in your system is obviously your GPU. Quote:On top of that I run it with 16x Antialiasing, 4xMSAA at 2.5 res.I'm sure you meant to say 16x anisotropic filtering. Don't get confused between the two. ![]()
I'm right about where you go and try to destroy the cannon on Lazulis Island, and find that your being shot at by Gurak and they're moving Island. lol It hasn't always run that well. Since 3.5 stable and up though Ive been pretty happy. It only really goes below the frames mentioned when there is an fmv.I could take a screenshot, but it just wouldnt be the same as fraps obviously though my system is too weak for that. On the anisotrpoic Yeah mixed em up oops. lol

You are either really trolling which means LYING or you made some amazing discovery which we will need to figure out, because on my i5 2400 and 660 gtx I am only getting 20 fps in the city, which is far cry from 35.
Not even 5 ghz ivy bridge is going to get 35 fps in Last Story. So, unless you are lying, you need to provide screenshoots of all your dolphin settings, you need to help people so we also can get more then 100% perfomance increase you are getting now ![]() 03-17-2013, 07:06 AM

As I expected. Your first screenshot only has one character onscreen hence the FPS you get. The second screenshot already shows a massive amount of slowdown with just 2 characters onscreen.
The later parts of the game will show you how demanding the game really is. Keep playing. ![]()
Trolling means lying? Oh hell I need to get with the times. I always thought it meant someone was being a jerk.
you know, this started as a discussion about whether or not anyone really thinks fps is such an important factor if you can play the game. Its turned into bickering name calling and finger pointing. So far Im a liar who cant tell the difference between vps and fps. So much for community.

Trolling is beeing a jerk while lying
![]() Nobody is saying it isnt posible to get fps you are getting in various parts of the game Problem is main city, thats where its slowest. I dont think your cpu should perform much different then mine, so show us screenshoots in the city ![]() You should be getting around 20 fps, few fps less or more I agree that fps is not important if it playable, but 20 fps is too slow, especially if you have NTSC version, since its only 66% of the normal speed |
