The 'The Three Musketeers' released the lvl0 key what kinda means that you can do what you want with the PS3 right?
Quote:The release of the new custom firmware - and the LV0 decryption keys in particular - poses serious issues. While Sony will almost certainly change the PSN passphrase once again in the upcoming 4.30 update, the reveal of the LV0 key basically means that any system update released by Sony going forward can be decrypted with little or no effort whatsoever. Options Sony has in battling this leak are limited - every PS3 out there needs to be able to decrypt any firmware download package in order for the console to be updated (a 2006 launch PS3 can still update directly to the latest software). The release of the LV0 key allows for that to be achieved on PC, with the CoreOS and XMB files then re-encrypted using the existing 3.55 keys in order to be run on hacked consoles.

This means you will have full acces to the hardware of the PS3. Wouldn't it be a great idea to optimize Dolphin fot this console?

The PS3 hardware is too weak to run Dolphin
Not possible
And Dolphin won't work on it , the dev have to rewrite dolphin from scratch

It's certainly possible to port Dolphin to the PS3, but whether it'll be playable, enjoyable, or simply worth the time and effort are completely different matters. It would require a lot of restructuring, both to the way Dolphin handles graphics (a new backend would most likely have to be written) and the JIT recompiler would have to be programmed specifically for the PS3's CPU. None of those is an easy task mind you. Like admin89 said, the hardware of a PS3 most likely isn't suitable for Dolphin.

The PS3 has a horrible set up for Dolphin - it relies heavily on multiple processes running on different processing units concurrently.
Desktop:
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.4 GHz
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Factory OC'ed)
RAM: 16 GB @ 1600 MHz
Dolphin Revision:3.0, 3.0-784, 3.5, latest 3.5

Sad too bad
I thought it would be possible because it can still produce some good graphics with new games. But Dolphin is more cpu dependent rather then gpu?

I guess the answer is quiet obvious but I'll ask it anyway. There isn't a possibility to make the emulator more gpu dependent? I can imagine it is now more cpu dependent because of the viaratie of videocards. (cpu's are more related to each other then gpu's right?) But because of the large scale of PS3 owners, there is a large group of users with the same hardware. I guess it will be a massive load of work, but if it works, it covers a large group of users.
Or is the answer just simple no. It isn't possible to make it gpu dependent?

You run different things on the CPU and GPU. The CPU is used for processing (tasks, calculations, manipulation of variables) while the GPU is used almost exclusively for graphics-related actions. Dolphin can't magically run what is normally run on a CPU on a GPU. It wouldn't work.

Yeah I understand how cpu and gpu works. But I assumed the cpu load was caused because the program also used its cpu for rendering the graphics. Because the Wii's hardware isn't high end but the gpu probably is 100% optimized for the games. And because normal consumer gpu's can't be used that efficient, the cpu kicks in. But this all is just something I assumed (yeah I know, when you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME Tongue)
I'm not that familiar with this emulator. Just saw the new about the PS3 and wanted it to share with you Smile
