Hi, so I'm pretty new to emulation and had a few questions. First of all, my pc specs are as follows:

intel i5 430m 2.2-2.5 GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 5850 ddr5
4 GB ddr3 RAM

So when I play Metroid Prime, I consistently get 30 fps or higher. The problem is, the game is still running too slow-the game runs anywhere from around 45%-92% of the normal speed. Is my processor too slow? Or can I tweak Dolphin to make it run better? Also, given what you know about my computer, would Metroid Prime 2 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl be playable? Thanks!

I've been playing metroid prime also at 35FPS or even lower and i dont have problems with the game speed O_o i play it pretty much good and what i see my PC specs are lower than yours, probably is your configuration on dolphin follow this: http://www.dolphin-emu.org/performance.html

And hope that helps you Smile

EDIT: Forgot to add i also have Super Smash Bros -Brawl and it runs pretty much faster than MP and MP2 so for SSBB you probably will need to do the trick to slow down the game Smile

Thanks for the reply, but I actually already applied those settings before I tried playing Prime. Does anyone know what's causing my problems?
Ok, so I actually missed a couple of those settings. Now my settings look exactly like the ones in the link. The thing is, the game still goes down to around 40% speed sometimes, but now it gets up to around 150%! Any thoughts?

This is not a very active forum. Don't double post because you expect a quick response.

Metoid Prime is supposed to run at 60 fps for fullspeed. It should be running either full speed or close to it on that setup assuming your settings are correct (which you haven't posted yet). I also don't know what revision your using.

Make sure safe texture cache is on and set to fast, set your framelimiter to 60 and check the box that says "use fps for limiting" or something like that. Also use efb to ram.

I also suggest you check the wiki anytime you need info on a specific game: http://dolphin-emu.org/wiki/index.php?title=Metroid_Prime

Sorry about the double post. My settings are in shown in the picture in the attachment. I am using Dolphin 2.0 64-bit. With your suggestions, I am now getting 100% a lot of the time, but in rooms of enemies or if the room has effects like fire and electricity, the speed still drops to 70-80% and in one case 50-60%. During the parasite queen boss, the speed was often 80-90%. Setting frameskip to 4 or more helped some, but the game still slowed down, and if I had frameskip set to 9, the game often turned into a slideshow when the speed went down, even though the fps counter was at around 30-40 fps.

Ok, so it's been around 4 days and no one has responded. At this point I don't feel bad about bumping my thread. Can someone PLEASE help me out here?

That helped a little, but I'm still slowing down to 80% sometimes, especially when there are enemies onscreen. Once it even got down to around 60% Is this just an issue of processor speed?
