I'll try that when I get home for sure. I'm only getting wind waker audio to cooperate by running it at 90% speed for the moment, maybe pulseaudio will let me get it up to 100%

True, I got around that by installing GCC5/G++5 by hand already though.

Nope, audio backend has no effect on the performance.

Okay well at LONG last I did this and Pulse is definitely the way to go, works just great without any fiddling on the 3 games I have.
