[solved] GC controller not detected, but adapter is

I'm using dev build 5456 on 64bit linux. As long as I run dolphin with root, the adapter is detected in the controller configuration window. However, when I go to configure a controller, the GC controller isn't listed in the drop down (hitting refresh doesn't help either).

The controller works fine if I use the wii-u-gc-adapter external uinput driver and not the built-in dolphin support. I'm not trying to use both at the same time either. I get bad input lag with the external driver, and I'd like to see if the built-in one helps a little with that.

Any ideas for a fix? I've tried all the 4 ports, and have tried plugging/replugging the controller before/during starting running dolphin.

Yes, select "Standard Controller" in the controllers drop down and start playing.  The controller does not need to be configured.

Ah yes, now I feel silly. I can't test to see if it works in-game because now I'm getting a "Jump target too far away, needs force5Bytes = true" error followed by a segfault when I try to launch the game (SSB ProjectM). This may be just something that broke in this specific build. The game was running on a slightly older build. I built this one tonight. It crashes with or without the adapter plugged in. This is a separate issue from this controller issue though.

edit: The game runs in interpreted mode (disabling JIT, at 3 fps) and lets me confirm that the controller works. I'll post a separate thread about the crash issue. Thanks.
