[SOLVED]can't install the motion controller patch for SCPToolkit to use it in Dolphin

After reading today's dolphin report, I got interested in the idea of using my Dual Shock 3 as a motion controller in Dolphin (until today I only used it for pressure controls in PCSX2 and PC games)

I read your DSU guide   that states I can use Nefarious' ScpToolkit with rajkosto's patch to get motion controls.

Unfortunately, every time I tried to install the patch (unzipping the libraries into ScpToolkit folder) ScpToolkit stops working and I'm forced to uninstall it and reinstall it without the patch.

What am I doing wrong? Does the patch has to be installed somewhere else? I can't find proper instructions to apply the patch...

Edit: Fixed now. All I needed to do was a completely clean installation. After uninstalling the drivers, the scp, deleting the scp folder and installing all everything worked.

You'd be better off asking one of hte other communities that have been using this for longer. I can only vouch for the DS4 and Steam Controller drivers personally. I don't have a working DS3 to test at the moment.

What is a "hte" community?

The wiki user "Miksel12" wrote the DSU guide... didn't he test all the DSU methods, including ScpToolkit one?

Edit: I've just wrote an email to rajkosto asking for the right way to install the patch. If he answers me with the installation instructions, I'll post them here.

"hte" is just a typo of "the".

He might not have tested all of them, no.

I clean wipe of scp solved the patching problem (it's a messy program that leaves a lot of leftovers after uninstalling).

It works now.

Thanks, I think we'll need to add that to the guide.

So, I'm the author of the guide and a long-time user of ScpToolkit (as, although abandoned, still is the only option for DualShock 3 controllers). I don't know how you did, but the install consists of unzipping the patch on top of an existing installation and overwriting the existing files in the process. It doesn't really matter if the drivers are already installed or not, and you should make sure "SCP DSx Service" is stopped before overwriting the files. I've never really heard or experienced the issue you described on all those years I'm using ScpToolkit.

Another possible issue you might have is that depending of your Windows 10 version (seems to happen only on 1803 and 1809), you might need to disable Secure Boot on the BIOS in order to install ScpToolkit drivers as the signature already expired and on those particular Windows versions the driver signature checks are hardened when Secure Boot is active (either that or you need to download the Windows 10 SDK and resign the driver yourself with a self-made certificate). However, that doesn't seem to be your problem otherwise not even vanilla ScpToolkit (without the patch) would have worked.

Also, there's a lot of different servers available and I deliberately made the choice of focusing only on the Dolphin-side part of the configuration, otherwise the guide would be overly long only to cover the install process of all currently known servers and it would have the additional maintenance burden of making sure the guide is accurate with the most recent version of every server, definitely not our job...

Now I now the real-real reason why I couldn't install the patch before... and it's stupid.

I downloaded the latest STABLE version of scp, not the latest release (a beta). The patch only works with the latest.

In the nefarious github page there's this link, "Download the latest release of the ScpToolkit Setup to an arbitrary location on your PC.", that brings you to the latest STABLE release. I clicked there and downloaded the wrong version (the scp I had already installed was an old build too)

=================
I suggest is to specify in the DSU guide that you have to install the scp v1.7.277.16103 , so the absent-minded like me will pay more attention at what they're downloading
