Does anyone know of a way to set up a software controller so that you could programmatically control a game? Specifically I'm trying to build a bot that would help me practice basic tech chasing in smash bros melee. I can handle most parts of this, but I don't know how to send inputs from outside of dolphin to perform the actions I want.

Any ideas?

Yeh. Have a search in this forum for "TAS". You can programmatically send input via the TAS input window. The moves are saved into DTM files, which you can edit with your program.
