So what's the definitive way to connect a Wiimote with Wiimotion plus built in?

I've searched and searched trying to connect my rvl-cnt-01-tr model wii remote to Dolphin and hardly anything works. I've tried emulating the Wii's bluetooth adapter and nothing. I've tried replacing my bluetooth driver with libusk and using the "passthrough bluetooth adapter" option and that works sometimes . I also hate having to do that because I have other normal bluetooth controllers I like using. Even on the few occasions where I could connect it, I couldn't get past the "connect nunchuck" screen in Skyward Sword.

All of that is to ask what is the best way to connect these remotes? The best method is using a Wii BT module, wired to USB, and used in passthrough mode.  There is a write-up on how to do it here.  The diagram I found most helpful in that thread is this one.  The modules can be found for 5 USD on eBay, shipped, and the voltage regulator is about the same or cheaper.  The most reliable way to set it up in Dolphin for passthrough functionality, is to use ZaDig per the instructions on the Wiki, but you do lose the ability to use the BT module for other applications. However, I don't know if the Wii BT module would be useful for anything else anyhow.  Since you already have another 3rd party PC BT adapter, you could use it for other applications, although I haven't tried a dual setup like that.

Note:
- It is difficult to solder the wires onto the module because of how small it is, but a lot of people have managed it
- Even though it is the best option, NSMBW and Skyward Sword may have connection problems on some hardware setups with some graphics back-ends when vsync is turned on

Emulating the BT module has many limitations, especially for motion plus functionality, as you've seen.  Using passthrough with PC BT adapters is very hit and miss, more miss than hit.  Most modules seem to have one kind of problem or another.  Again, the most rock-solid method is passthrough with Wii BT module.  If you have the patience and perseverance to do the soldering.

While you didn't specify which BT Adapter you're using, you said Dolphin's BT Passthrough mode worked, so, try installing UsbDk instead of using Zadig. If UsbDk works on your system, Dolphin will automatically take control of the BT Adapter while you're running games and upon stopping emulation or closing Dolphin, Windows should see your BT Adapter again and it will be usable for other devices.

Keep in mind, however, that since you're not using a real Wii BT Module, you might need to resync your Wiimotes every time you boot up a game in Dolphin and that it might not work with multiple Wiimotes and/or the Wiimote Speaker might not work correctly. Refer to this wiki page for more details and to see what you can expect from different BT adapters...

Also no I'm not aware of any method that allows Dolphin to only temporarily take exclusive control over the BT adapter on Windows. On Linux, trivially, but not on Windows.

I have played with these two a lot so I can clarify:

Zadig will allow you to install WinUSB, LibUSBk and a third driver whose name I don't remember, but not UBSDk.  Using Zadig, you will completely replace the Windows driver.

To install USBDk, you need a separate installer (also linked from the passtrhough wiki page).  With that installer, USBDk only replaces the Windows driver when you launch a game in Dolphin, as mbc07 suggested.  The rest of the time, you have the normal Windows driver available.

Warning: USBDk can be a real pain in the ass to uninstall when you decide you don't want it anymore.  Not everyone has had that problem but some of us have.

But since with any of this drivers, the bt adapter is not visible as a bt adapter for Windows, if you need a bt adapter for other stuff, you can have two bt adapters at the same time.

About usbdk, it killed my Dolphin experience. Dont remember if wiimotes didn remember paring or what the problema was. I was about to format the pc until I found some real uninstaller. Deleting driver didnt help at all. So be careful.

Too bad I didnt save the uninstaller, but I wrote on this fórum how I did it, so It should be anywhere around.

Alright,thanks for the help guys. At the end of the day, it's not really worth jumping through the hoops and my Xbox controller gets the job done 90% of the time. I'll remember this if I ever change my mind though

That's because UsbDk is actually installed as a filter driver on the internal USB Hubs from your computer instead of targeting a specific hardware ID, and that's also why it can "eject" your BT Adapter when Dolphin request it to do so and "plug" it back to the OS when Dolphin closes. Uninstalling it manually is a little bit different from a conventional driver, but it's still easy if you know what to do...

Hi. Nice to know. Well, that was like a year ago or so. Remember it was a pain. And also freaked out, cause been using dolphin for like 6 years and breaking it was awfull. One of my main gaming hobby is dolphin.

So I never tried to reinstall it, which is not good, cause I buyed some wii mics some time ago and I think the only way to make it works, is with usbdk.

Maybe a proper way to uninstall it should be added to dolphin wiki.
