I guess maybe it was some bad luck too... anyway I'm 20 and live in a town of 20% students, and the speed dating was advertised in my university, so everyone who went there were students too. (sounds great so far right?)

Now what happened is, all girls there were at least 3-5 years older than me. Now this was probably the biggest bad luck part, as that's sort of too old for me. However, despite the age difference I was still pretty shocked at how terrible it turned out. Basically they were all talking about the great stuff they're doing, like studying medicine/psychology etc., and recruiting candidates for a political meeting from Rwanda and what not. And they went on to ask me what are my hobbies and ambitions etc.

Now I never considered myself a loser or anything, I delivered newspapers and wrote a novel in middle school, and started up programming in high school, but I didn't bring out my life story and all that, and stuck mostly too the current time, where I'm studying informatics, and working on a video game for a competition. Now I may be a little out of touch with the social trends regarding dating, but this info seems not to have been considered positive by most people, and more like a red flag.

Now what's worrying me however, is how these girls seemed to be holding job interviews, not as friendly as I imagined the speed dating would be. Now personally I don't really care for a girlfriend to be into epic activities or anything, but if I ever were to interact with females again with a girlfriend-acquiring intent, advice on avoiding similar fiascos would be much appreciated.

Bring chloroform. The old "Does this rag smell of Chloroform to you?" trick is effective, and in some countries, even legal.

Don't use f**king speed dating services. That's my advice to you.

I don't think you could have expected this but knowing it was a speed dating service you probably should have expected something to go wrong.

Also time to contribute chloroform jokes:

Yeah you probably shouldn't tell random girls that you're working on a video game.

It doesn't sound to me like any of these girls would be worth dating anyways. Considering they're dumb enough to be looking for a god tier boyfriend at a speed dating service.

Speed dating is meant to be like an interview. It's basically a series of small timed interviews where people try to impress each other by listing everything good about themselves. It's definitely not a place to get to know someone in-depth. It's just a starting point to see if the person across from you would be someone you would want to spend some time with based on the limited information provided. The actual date and getting to know the person definitely does not take place until the next meeting, if there is one. Speed dating is a safe way to see if the person is worth your time without actually going on a formal date. It's also much easier to end the date should you find something about the person you don't like since the clock is ticking and you have nothing invested. Tongue

Girls being older then you is never a bad thing. I once dated a woman almost 11 years older then me and we had a great time together while it lasted until I found she already had a guy.
She was just using me for my goodies.....life's hard sometimes.
