First of all, I own a 320GB HDD, and I get no problems.
Second, that build is just fine, all it needs is a Heatsink and Fan + Thermal Paste.
Any of those video cards can do 720p, and the 6750's can do 1080p.

Overclocking MIGHT be limited by that Motherboard, not sure.

80->500GB HDD is fine . Seriously , i'm using 40GB SSD ! My games are stored in external HDD
Where do you live ? I recommend Newegg.com if you live in US

Quote:(not sure what role the hard drive plays or if lower capacity is alright, i don't even need 500GB)

Lower capacity is fine. You'll never use 1TB unless you have some crazy porn addiction. I'd recommend this one instead though:
HDD: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Spinpoint-Cache-Desktop-HD103SI/dp/B001U3S5S0/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1337312704&sr=1-2

Quote:MB: ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 there were a few different asrock z68 boards and it wasn't clear what the differences were, this was the cheapest. not sure if it'll limit the performance of anything or not.

A bad mobo can make your life a pain in the ass, but it won't affect performance.

Quote:Overclocking MIGHT be limited by that Motherboard, not sure.

Nope. It's a Z68.

Quote:RAM: Corsair XMS3 4 GB i could easily double this up for 8GB for very little extra if it makes a difference

That's a single 4GB dimm. You want 2 dimms for dual channel. So either 2 x 2GB (4GB total) or 2 x 4GB (8GB total). 4GB total is enough.

Quote:and a random case- GAMMA ATX Mid Tower

You might want to consider something better if you have the money. It's up to you though how much you value your case.

Quote:GPU: A GDDR5 6570 seems hard to find, one of the only matches was this mysterious listing: Radeon HD6570 2G GDDR5
there are a few DDR3 6570s from sapphire and diamond multimedia, otherwise there are these more expensive cards:
PowerColor ATI Radeon HD6750 1 GB DDR5
MSI ATI Radeon HD6670 1 GB DDR5
i can stretch the budget for either or those if they're a good fit.

I would recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1351-KR/dp/B0052BX4LE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1337313594&sr=1-1

I see no HSF, thermal paste, CD/DVD drive/burner (you can easily reuse one from another system for free if you have another desktop to salvage), or OS listed. Are you a student at a university (you can get a discount on windows 7 if you are)?

^Seconded.

To be honest I'm not completely sure on that. The other benchmark results seem to suggest that this should be true but since there were no benchmark results with those actual cards this is only an educated guess and not directly confirmed. A 6670 or GTS 450 GDDR5 is probably a safer bet for 1080p.

Gotta disagree there. You definitely don't need to be a pervert or a porn addicted to fill 1TB of space. Just ask me all about my several full hard drives with less than 5GB's of porn. Other than that, I would agree with the rest of your comments.

[color=#0000CD]yeah, i haven't accounted for the cooling yet. is there any link that you can provide for how to use this paste/where to apply it?
i may be able to scavenge a simple DVD drive. i'm at a 2-year college right now, i'll look into that discount.

i'm considering newegg, but since amazon has a good return policy that lets people like me return items the moment that they've arrived on their doorsteps, it's a tough decision.

Apply thermal paste on CPU , it allow transfer the heat from the CPU to Heatsink
Without it , your CPU will dry
How to apply Thermal Compound

while i'm waiting on the refund here's the final ultimate masters materials list:

160GB 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Western Digital WD1600BJKT

NZXT M59 ATX Mid Tower (little nicer than the other one)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 120mm
Asus 24xDVD-RW
MSI ATI Radeon HD6670- considered the other cards, but i don't want to break $100 here
Corsair 4GB Dual Channel DDR3
Windows 7 Home Premium (holy shit that's pulling me over budget!)
ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3
Corsair CX V2 500-Watt 80 Plus
Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band
Arctic MX-4 4g

the processor comes in a 2500 and 2500k version. the only difference i see noted is that the 2500 has "intel 2000 graphics" while the 2500k has "3000." since i'm not using integrated graphics anyway, is there any reason to get the 2500k? it'd shave a bit off to get the 2500.

The 2500K also has an unlocked multiplier while the 2500 has a limited multiplier which significantly limits its OC potential. Unless there is a substantial difference in price between the two you should go with a 2500K.

I would still recommend this graphics card: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1351-KR/dp/B0052BX4LE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1337313594&sr=1-1

Also you still haven't answered my question:
