I kinda regret now earlier buying from a store a Bluetooth Dongle for my PC, alas. The reviews seem good, but I guess I am mainly looking for testimonials from the users of this brilliant forum and site.

Definitely beats a bluetooth dongle since it doubles as a sensor/receiver. The nice thing about the bar is that you can still use your bluetooth dongle without it interfering with the dolphinbar.
It's the best solution for me as I have a media/steam/emulation pc in the living room and you can connect wiimotes at the press of any button.

Absolutely. I've had mine for almost a week and I regret not getting one way sooner. It does have some quirks though.

From what I hear, it can be picky when it comes to 3rd party "unofficial" controllers. I have 3 official Wiimotes and 1 official Wiimote with motion plus built in. Haven't had any problems connecting any combination of them so far. Another thing I love about it is that once you sync a Wiimote, it automatically connects each time you turn the Wiimote on, from what I hear other Bluetooth adapters require you to resync each time.

So, yea. Worth every penny. Buy one Tongue

So far no one has tried it with the balance board. So, honestly, no one knows. *shrug*

Strangely, I was just testing this and can confirm that an RVL-021 balance board does work with a DolphinBar with Dolphin 4.0-5078 in Family Ski & Snowboard. (That's the board that comes with the WiiU Fit package)

I used the setting "Real Balance Board" under controllers->Balance Board.

It is pretty good while you use it, the problem is that I can't keep it connected to my PC at all times for two reasons:

1: The blinking light when it searches for a wii remote is distracting, and I can't turn it off so it only searches while dolphin is open.

2: If I turn on my PC while dolphinbar is connected to it then the computer will hang until I connect my wii remote to the dolphin bar by pressing a button. I think this is because dolphinbar tells the computer that there is a controller connected even when there isn't, so when the computer tries to communicate with the controller, it will try for a while before timing out.

The second issue is definitely the biggest one and if I had known about it then I probably would have just gotten another bluetooth module and make my own sensor bar or something. For now I just have to disconnect it whenever I'm not using it.

If you are really that bothered by the lights, Dolphinbars are very easy to open. You could apply some stickers to the LEDs to make them dimmer.

I agree concerning the blinking lights. But I found another solution, that I'm using for my PC in the living room:

There is a Microsoft Utility called "devcon.exe" that can be used to turn on/off devices and many things more.

It is part part of the WDK (=Windows Driver Kit) which can be downloaded free from Microsoft.

With this Utility you can turn any device on/off via command line.

Turn on device:

devcon.exe enable "USB\VID_057E&PID_0306"
devcon.exe restart "USB\VID_057E&PID_0306"

Turn off device:

devcon.exe disable "USB\VID_057E&PID_0306"
devcon.exe restart "USB\VID_057E&PID_0306"

I wrote separate batch files to do this. When booting, I have the batch file for "OFF" in the autostart. Then I have a batch file for starting Dolphin, that turns on the DolphinBar, starts Dolpin and turns the DolphinBar off after Dolphin is ended.

As soon a the utility turns the DolphinBar off, the lights go out.  Wink

To find it, just Google for "Devcon.exe"
