Funny I saw this. I'm upgrading my rig to Zurg's current rig, lol. I thought I would go all out, but 3 or 4 graphics cards with water blocks is way to expensive. I'm not even sure it would all fit in the case. That's just...madness. Good luck Zurginator. Robbing my friends and family still didn't get me enough cash for project overkill. Need to try a bank...

Heard of Sandy Bridge? The 980x is just a waste of money now that SBs are here.

The 980x/990x still beat 2600k by a slight margin at identical clock speeds, but yeah as new purchases it's no longer worth the $1k.

Might just as well get the i5 2500k and clock it to around 4.5-5.0 & a mobo later this spring, save ~650 and get the same performance.

Also note that SB only does dual channel memory, 1366 does triple. Not a deal breaker for most people but it's there.

To late for that when I bought this 2 months ago. New boards come out like every year, right? As long people benchmark and showcase results of improvement, I'll be impressed enough to upgrade in the future. It'll be a pain, though.
