How do I get Dolphin to Run on Snow Leopard, With or Without Crossover?

I have crossover games and used it to start dolphin and even launch an .iso, I got clear audio and It was also reacting to my keystrokes (I skipped the beginning cut scene) but the screen was completely black.

I've tried building my own but that was very unsuccessful, I feel like I'm just missing something on the crossover games front.

If you have any Windows Operating Systems that you haven't used like XP, Vista, or 7; you could install them using Boot Camp and Partition the hard drive how you like it. I use an Imac and that's how I use Dolphin. However, if you don't and would rather not pay for the operating systems, you could also try out Parallels. I've never used CrossoverGames so I can't help you with that part.

Or, Dolphin should get a devoted developer to better implement Dolphin on *nix environments. Up until today, no one had ever gotten it to even compile on the Mac platform, and not many wish to trod into Windows territory and give up the sheer awesomeness of Mac OS X.

Seriously though, lolcats5555, though the Mac port can run only Gamecube games, it is a jerk to compile in Snow Leopard. CrossoverGames is a supported commercial variant of Wine, an Open Source project. Testing it in Wine yielded the same results as you, so a native build is crucial (not to mention a whole lot faster!). I am in the process of building the dependencies for a build that were pionered today by Celgil on the MacOSX_Build page on Google Code (in fact, always check on that page in the comments for the latest info on building).

I will post both on Google Code and on this topic on my discoveries or failures post-build.

I always wonder, D3D plugin works better than OpenGL, and I assume even if it could built on 10.6 with no errors, you can use only OpenGL plugin - is there any point to use it on Mac when we have bootcamp? Maybe if Mac coders united and made a plugin using latest libraries like CoreAudio/Quartz... there will be some advantages to use it on Mac though. In anyways any mac developers won't be motivated till Apple install Intel i7/5/3 processors to consumer line. (We are not interested in 9.7 inch iPhone, Jobs...)

well , It saves the problem of buy a copy of Windows and making a new partition to install it

Ok, you got me. I'm on Windows right now as I speak. I have discovered that the Windows version FINALLY has support for NTSC Brawl (haven't tested on Mac side).

The thing compiles fine. I just only have SSBM to test right now (considering it's sluggish even on Windows, this is not the best tester). Follow the EXACT method that Celgil suggests. I also recommend starting fresh on a clean Macport if you run x64 Snow Leopard and used it b4 the upgrade as i had. I'll try Twilight Princess next to see how well that runs.

BTW, I'm not sure that Mac has or has no support for Wii (I know, laugh...); I'll test Brawl soon. Also, didn't now that D3D works better then OGL in Windows; I'll test it out!

Well, I shouldn't have said it won't work better or not on Mac hence I've never tried. It might work good enough, I don't know I guess there's a difference how OpenGL is implemented to OS. In anyways it's hard to think though.

And D3D yes, on some of games it seems D3D works much better.
I play Zelda TP often and when you in a small room, OpenGL works a little smoother/less glitches, aka frame skips. But in bigger room/field, D3D gets more fps - depends on specs but it doubles framerate for me. However with Metroid Prime GC I don't feel differences.

Of course if possible I don't want to reboot to switch OS only for an app (The app is great enough to do so though). Recent revs gets 10.6 related codes better, let's see what will happen. Also we have an another hope, with new Mac models have i7/5 line which will be rumoured to be released sometime soon, maybe we'll have enough fps even with OpenGL. It's also hard to think Apple keep using old Graphic board for new processor.

It's just a few months... let's see.
