Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 is made in 5nm process. So i believe less thermal throttling will occure than previous 7nm SoC. Its not about pure Ghz, but temperature too.

Xiaomi mi 9 vs 10 is like comparing Adreno 640 vs 650.  The latter device has much newer Vulkan version and about 30 more vk extensions. I cant find anywhere what extensions are helpful for dolphin, but i believe Mi 11 and Adreno 660 will have even more. Newer drivers are expected to have even more performance. So expect another improvement.

Also, Xiaomi mi 11 will have newer LPDDR5 memory. This RAM device stilln seats out of SoC, so faster transfers means faster graphic performance especially at corner cases.
Just a side note, Apple silicon have integrated memory already (RAM).

S888 and E2100 are made in the same 5nm process, at the same Samsung factory, with the same Cortex X1, A78 and A55 cores, the only difference in that E2100 will run faster, and faster CPU = faster emulation. The X1 difference will be minimal, but the A78 difference is 400MHz, and that might show in Dolphin using dual core processing (there's only one X1 after all). There's also the L1/L2/L3 caches to take into account, that matters too I think. Both will benefit from 5nm coolness, and both will probably have the same throttling, since both use the same reference design from ARM (Exynos ditched the customized design this generation, thank God).
EDIT: and by the way, Dolphin is unable to use more than 2 CPUs at the same time, so it never overheats. Trust me, I tried everything, it never gets too hot here in my 7nm. The only Android emu that makes my Poco get hot is Citra running at 4x resolution with all the bells and whistles turned on.

If you're expecting Vulkan to help Adreno run Dolphin better, I have bad news for you: from my tests here with my Adreno 650, Vulkan is worse than OpenGL. Not only slower, but buggier as well. And thats the same in Android PPSSPP too.

About LPDDR5: it's already present in many S865 devices, including the 256GB version of the Poco F2 Pro. Mine is the 128GB LPDDR4X version. I've read a lot of people saying the difference between LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 is almost non-existent in real use.

Thanks for Exynos input, but i was refering in my previous post to the original poster @Aggro_hamtaro, who has still older 7 nm chip. Old mobile cpus are known to throttle in many conditions - It does not have to be hot. And maybe phone vendor dependant too. Add cheating in Antutu to this.

Correct me if i am wrong but arent gpu drivers customized a bit by phone manufacturer? Poco might have worse quality drivers than, lets say, samsung.

LPDDR5 - no difference in real life use compared to LPDDR4x. But we arent discussing real life. More bandwidth higher IR scaling. Doesnt it?

In theory yes! Especially when higher bandwidths are necessary.
This is what I meant with HD textures and higher resolution. It's save to say that LPDDR5 will show an improvement in this regard.

Also need to factor in that initial tests of the Mi 11 show the 888 to have a major efficiency regression, being a mere 20-30% faster at 50-60% more power consumption. Even more concerningly, that efficiency regression trickles down to the lower clock speeds so the chip will most likely have heat and power consumption problems compared to the 865. The smart move will likely be to buy 865 or skip this year’s Qualcomm chips entirely.

Never heard of manufacturers customizing the GPU drivers. AFAIK they customize only the high level of the OS, like the launcher, the services, these things. Drivers are too low level to be toying with (go check how John Carmack complains about Qualcomm not giving him access to the Wi-Fi drivers in Oculus Quest's S835/X2 cores). Samsung and Xiaomi aren't responsible for the quality of the GPU drivers: Qualcomm is. By the way, since S855, Qualcomm allowed the GPU drivers to be upgradeable independently from the OS. The Xiaomi Store in China (only) has an "app" that always update the phone's drivers to the latest drivers from Qualcomm.

Theoretically, LPDDR5 should be faster than LPDDR4X, of course. But from owners and testers and reviewers all alike, they all agree the difference is too minimal to be considered. I also would love to see this difference in Dolphin, but I suppose it won't change anything, not even using 8k textures. What would REALLY help Android Dolphin with custom textures would be getting free of PNG textures (see the ASTC suggestion).

EDIT: LPDDR4X: 4266Mbps / LPDDR5: 6400Mbps

Qualcomm doesn’t allow customization of their drivers, however ARM does with Mali drivers. Samsung has utilized in the past for their chipsets.

Mi 11 (Snapdragon 888) emulation tests (including Dolphin):

EDIT: this guy tests A LOT of phones with A LOT of emus (sadly, many custom emu builds too, so you can't really use him as benchmark), check out his channel.

That guy is in serious need of a beard trimming.
Also, it seems to me like his mantra is quantity over quality.

Looks like there will be a third option...
