Small White Bugs in my GBA Screen

Well I guess one of them died or is hiding. The other pops up from time to time. I'll just pretend like they don't exist until they starve.

When I was around 17 years old (2002) I made a trip to the states and there I bought a used GBA and some good games that weren't released in Europe by that time. The GBA wasn't exactly in mint condition and had something similar to what you described. The glass was actually pretty OK so what I did was to dismantle the entire console to molecules and then carefully clean every single detail. When I assembled the GBA again it was almost brand new looking.

I've since then always dismantled the consoles, controllers, electronics etc. that was bought used. With decent effort things can be good as new.

Wait, wait wait. My SP has had the same things for years. They are long dead, but still stuck under the screen.

noah, have you ever dismantled your GBA SP before?

I don't know how the GBA SP is made in detail since I never owned one but the old first generation GBA consoles was a piece of cake to dismantle.
If you haven't dismantled your GBA SP I strongly dissuade you to do that, it could end up in disaster.

If you hate the small white bugs in your GBA screen that much I advice you to sell the console and get a newer one instead.

I'll admit that dismantling a newer Nintendo console today is way harder then the old ones since the complexity has become larger. It's a cake walk to dismantle a SNES but a Wii I wouldn't even touch.

Only bought new sealed consoles of the newer Nintendo's and never had to open them so I wouldn't know if it's easy or not. But you have to dismantle the NES once in a while due to the connector problems. I've blown so much air to get games going in my life it's ridiculous.

I can see why people make emulator builds for really old systems. That's way too tedious.

I find my NES games to almost always work on the first try if I clean them (with an eraser :3), and afaik the connector has never been changed. I have however opened up my NES before to disable the lockout chip :p
