if you wish to have extra more and less 1fps-2fps performance, you may have to do this:

1) temporary disabling your anti-virus & anti-malware realtime scanning.
2) close all available applications like firefox, internet explorer and etc.
3) create a dolphin.cmd under dolphin folder, edit it with:

Quote:TASKKILL /IM EXPLORER.EXE /F
start /high /wait Dolphin.exe
start explorer.exe

4) run with dolphin.cmd.

cpu usage and memory usage consume the most part of dolphin emulation. if you share out even few small resources, it will affect the dolphin performance.

enjoy Smile

There is no benefit to this PERIOD.

its snakeoil like Gamebooster.

if you want to free up some resources, hit end task on the dwm process (it will auto restart the process) which will free up some of the vram in use by explorer windows that hasn't been freed.

seriously, if explorer is using any cpu or gpu, you have other problems to deal with Wink

Yes, but killing explorer won't free up any cpu time Tongue

if it did you'd have a virus or something.

shutting down browsers may be beneficial, more so if the browser is accelerated and uses gpu / vram.

With today's new hardware 1-2 FPS is nothing, even with older hardware 1-2 FPS doesn't help either.
10-20 FPS then I could agree it could be helpful.

services will talk to explorer.exe from time to time, that will slow down the performance if you notice.

haha, true. 10fps make a lot different. but with 1-2fps extra will make your game look smoother Big Grin

Services don't talk to the shell at all, if they did they would start the shell by themselves.

I usually shut down all unnecessary services running after a re-install since I don't use Internet/Network or anything else on my machines.
I see no reason to kill Explorer.exe afterwards if you have tweaked the services list a little.

just keep a log of what you adjust, since windows Service packs bawlk when some are disabled.

true. services consumes the runtime most of the time, if they know what to disable.
