Why don't you give us all a step-by-step guide on how you "tuned up your PC" that allowed you to go from 3 fps to 25. I'm sure everyone here can't wait to hear this one.

Dodgy I had someone who knows how to overclock computers and someone showed me what services I didnt need to be running, so I disabled all of them. Then did a scan on my computer and updated all of my drivers. The program labled them as ancient, not out dated. But really stone age old Rolleyes Then after running my registry program and file cleaner my PC was fsaster than it ever was before. The Fps increased by 7 after that. But it still wasnt good enough. So I ordered a GameGain and Gamebooster and some other program for my PC and that also incresed my PC by 5 or 6. Most games were running fine after that, except a few. So I searched online for answers and found out some Dolphin versions work better for some particular games. So I searched all the REVs that others claimed that worked well for their games back in 2009. And found out that was it. Now I know some of you thought I was Bsing, but I wasn't. I mean seriously. Resident 1-3 FPS were so slow before, you could see every single bullet casings hit the ground one after another in slow motion using a machine gun. Normally you just see a bunch of bullets casings rapidly hit the ground. But noooo, it took like 5 seconds for one to hit the ground before Tongue So yeah, I could give a better guide, but I'm still learning more myself on how to make my games perform better. Also on another note, another reason why my fps were a 1-3 before, because I had to wrong configurations, so that also reduced the games FPS. I didn't read hardly nothing when I first used Dolphin.Tongue

Hmm, interesting. I'll have windows update see if my drivers need to be updated.

I used frame skipping(I seldom use that on any emulator) and things were faster, I was able to enjoy it, even though it jerks some. Still, I'm satisfied. Thanks for the information.

Scarface7: Sorry to inform you of this, but none of that would have any affect on an emulator's speed. Whatever you think you did, you didn't do anything useful. Dolphin runs based on pure CPU speed, period. No amount of "PC tuning" like that does anything. You either have a fast enough processor to get a certain amount of speed, or you don't.

Maybe I can suggest something to you, you've just started posting on this forum, do yourself a favor and stop posting what you think you know as fact and do some reading and just hang out for a while.

I'm curious, how is frame skipping able to "boost" the speed of a game? It jerks yeah, but for me, at least Wind Waker and Twin Snakes seem to be enjoyable.

Frame skipping does what it says on the tin. It skips frame rather than rendering them. I don't know the particulars, but essentially it's less work the computer has to do. It "jerks" because you're not getting every frame, one right after another. Too much frame skipping makes it look like you teleport every other time you move. If you get really low FPS in Dolphin, I guess frame skipping would give the appearance of the game's running faster, since not all of the frames will show up.

Starscream, like I said. When I first used Dolphin, I didn't read hardly much about it. I downloaded it thinking it would be a simple emulator. And as for my FPS not increasing. They did after I overclock and used certain software. Then increased again after using the right configurations. I'm not giving out false information. I'm giving information that worked for me. I never said my information was guaranteed. I even said I am still learning. I didn't see nothing wrong with helping someone out, and see if my information would benefit them. I like these forums and its cool to see others able to enjoy their classic games again. I only want to help others. Another note, here are others that said the softwares I used worked for them in the links below. So please, "Why Can't We Be Friends?"

I imagine that doing this could shorten the PC's lifespan, and that isn't something I want. I bet your PC hots up doesn't it?

Nooooo! Frame skipping does render the frame, it just doesn't display it. That why it really gives almost no performance increase.
Not rendering the frame would require a game patch to reduce the fps to 30.

Nope. My PC isnt hot at all. Maybe warm, but not hot. I only did a softoverclocked on my PC. But hey, you can either take my advice or not. Have fun gaming friend. Big Grin

You sure about this? Frame skipping can easily double my gamespeed in SMG2 in some places, and not displaying the frames shouldn't produce any increase in performance at all.

What are your full load cpu temperatures? "warm" isn't a number.

Sorry but SS is right on this one. None of the things you listed should improve dolphins performance at all except overclocking and changing settings. And neither of those should increase performance by 700% as you claim.

Either your settings were WAY off (dual core and idle skipping disabled, efb to ram, real xfb, etc.) or something else way horribly wrong with your system and you ended up fixing it by accident.
