When I am playing Melee and I click on another window (for example: chrome) Dolphin locks the framerate at 30 fps. I know this isnt a problem with my PC performance because of my relatively high end hardware. When I select dolphin again, The framerate goes back to 60. How can I fix this problem?

This is your OS messing with thread scheduling and priority. It will always try to prioritize threads from the active UI application.
I'm not actually sure if you can prevent that, and even if you could I'd strongly suggest not messing with that. 07-26-2018, 02:22 AM

The weird thing is that before I wiped the hard drive on my current PC, I didn't have this problem. The game ran at a smooth 60 fps when chrome, for example, was selected. 07-26-2018, 02:23 AM
If it's actually locked at 30fps (IE not just 'lower performance'), it's probably a gpu driver setting somewhere.
It's a complex system. Sometimes my windows machines will do it, sometimes they won't.
It probably depends on system load and other factors. JonnyH: If they're using Vsync and the OS deprioritizes threads from Dolphin causing perf to drop below 60 frames, it would look like this. |
