i have been testing versions of dolphin and noticed that after version 3.5-1067 i lose about 30/40 fps in mario kart for instance
before i get about 70/80fps in game after this version i get about 40/45
in all games i tested it's the same

setup
windows 8 x64
core2duo e8400 4.2ghz
nvidia 9600gt
4gb ddr2

is there any significant change in dolphin that could be the cause of this ?

Recent builds tend to be "slower". More accurate, more improved, more demanding...

spyro: Your posted revision is the deprectation of our DX9 backend. Are you sure you always use the same backend to test? DX11 is often slower than DX9, but less accurate

Fwiw, I've actually been using 3.5-1067 for a while, but I've recently gotten up to 3.5-1494. Haven't noticed a dramatic drop myself (yes, I've played MK Wii as well). As degasus asked, which backend are you using? For you, it's most likely that some commit between 3.5-1067 and the latest causes the slowdown. Can you narrow it down to a specific revision (or at least a small range of revisions)?

i almost always use dx9 backend only on a few games that doesnt work i use opengl or dx11
im going to test further until i see the drops in fps
the problem is more noticable in weaker cpus, in my case its a huge drop in frames, for instance sonic colors with this version runs at 30fps most of the time with the latest runs at +-14
at least i know that beyond 1167 this problem occurs but im going to test versions between

3.5-1165 introduce dx9 performance counters. They are known to slow down the rendering, but 3.5-1166 shouldn't do any performance changes

i noticed that performance counters slows down a little bit but not that much, im clueless to why after 1166 i have this problem
i kmow it's a "cpu problem" since even on the lower gpu settings happens the same thing

done a few more tests and using latest version dx11 backend i get almost the same fps as 1165 using dx9 (its slower using latest version but that's to be expected)

so probably its something on the dx9 backend
