Brilliant, thankyou. That's exactly the problem.

I've enabled prefetch custom textures but it crashes my PC. I assume it is a lack of RAM (my RAM is maxed out as soon as Dolphin loads). Is it worth adding another 8Gb to my system (making total 16Gb)?

If your RAM is maxed out as dolphin loads with 8 GBs of RAM, you have bigger problems, if Windows is using more than 1.5 GBs idle, make sure that no BG programs are hogging it. Now prefetching texture packs is another story, but you're saying this happens just loading dolphin right away, and prefetching takes time, before it eventually aborts(crashing PC screams old version of Dolphin, which is unsupported). Maybe you got a toolbar crapware or OEM bloatware that came with your PC, or sometimes, it just needs restarting. Beware though that putting a laptop on sleep can severely impact performance until restarting, and I'm talking from experience. Also, if you installed windows 10, make sure you selected the option to uninstall everything and only keep your files. If not, leftover crap from Win 7-8 could still be lingering hogging your RAM and your CPU cycles, and making the system less stable in general.

Also, if you are not using a 5.0 RC, then you may be running a version of Dolphin that hogs more RAM (heck, I'm fine running dolphin on 6 GBs and ran it on 4 in the past)

Dolphin's Ram usage isn't significant unless you throw texture packs in.

Hi, I am using the texture packs and dolphin crashes a few seconds after the game loads. Would 16Gb help?

Thanks
