Slow speeds suddenly?

I have a similar laptop - you should have no issue running SMG2 full speed.

That's why I have an issue with it not running at full speed, and about mstreurman not offering help, but instead explaining away my problem as if I just don't have a good laptop. I DID list my specs. Anyway, do you know if there's anything else I can do to help speed up emulation? 11-02-2017, 09:20 AM
You could try lowering the internal resolution to see if that smooths it out. Any game can be too demanding for any computer if you have graphical settings too high or various other settings on. Make sure cheats are off, make sure high power settings are on. I'm very careful with my laptop to make sure it can run things.

Anyway, thank you for your help. 11-03-2017, 05:42 PM

As I said, I have similar problems.
Do you have any progress? I think I'm not getting Exclusive Full Screen Mode using Directd3D 11 (for better use of Ubershaders). So, I think its always using Borderless fullscreen, which reduces performance, right? Any clue why I cant get exclusive mode? (borderless option is unchecked). Using Windows 10 here. 11-03-2017, 07:47 PM

I suppose I'll just stick with laggy Galaxy for the next few builds and maybe it'll fix itself. As for the full screen, I really can't tell you why it's doing that, but I can tell you that it shouldn't be too detrimental to performance unless you have something like Wallpaper Engine in the background doing lots of rendering. The Windows desktop isn't a huge load for a GPU. 11-05-2017, 12:32 AM

I didn't say your computer is too slow, I was just saying that Dolphin got more accurate thus slower in some games. Does the same happen still if you go back to a previous version? Could you Bisect the issue to see which version it started running slower?
There could still be some sort of regression somewhere, even though one of the devs themselves don't seem to get the issue. Also does it happen if you go and reset dolphin to its default settings and then afterwards don't touch anything except for setting IR to 1x? this is of course just a test as it could still be a configuration issue. The devs also might have some different software installed than you on your computer? To reset Dolphin to Defaults you could try temporary renaming the Dolphin Emulation folder in My Documents or create a portable.txt file in the Dolphin directory where the executable file is. Oh I also just noticed: You are using OpenGL in combination with Ubershaders: Due to a bug/implementation thing in nVidia drivers it is actually slower. You should try using D3D with Ubershaders if you're using an nVidia card. This will have no negative impact in visual quality because all the back-ends have everything implemented the "same" way.
Check my profile for up to date specs.

It's also pretty obvious that it's the NEW version causing the issue, since in the original post I said that I decided to update and that's when it got slow. I'm also not sure why you would assume one of the devs themselves doesn't get the issue, but anyway, my point stands. |
