Skyward Sword Saves Don't Keep

Hello, every time I start skyward sword its says it is creating a save file. Even after I play for a bit and save at a bird statue, it still erases my saves but says it is creating save data. Is there any thing I can do to check what the problem is or fix it somehow. I would really like to load in game and have it keep my saves.
