I have been working on a Skyward Sword visual revamp very casually over the last few months and I was interested in seeing how the community feels about it, and of course, I'll be letting you all try it out.

Before the revamps (In Vanilla Dolphin with no revamped textures, no shaders, most Dolphin enhancements off, and internal resolution set to 1x Native):

With the revamps (In Dolphin with some early revamped textures, the current custom sweetFX shader, most Dolphin enhancements on/very high, and internal resolution set to 4x Native):

In this revamp I started by revamping some basic stuff like the coloured flags around Skyloft's bazaar as they looked rough around the edges and then I slowly but surely moved on to making bigger and bigger changes and eventually decided I'm going to revamp the game's textures as best as I can and possibly see if more people are interested in my project to offer support.

At one stage in development I had a breakthrough in my attempts to deal with the Depth of Field effect Skyward Sword uses to make distant objects appear painted. The effect doesn't look very good at a higher resolutions so  after a lot of trying different builds of dolphin I found that we can disable Skyward Sword's depth of field effect entirely by using some simple code (which will be provided on demand) in the game's config.

I will try to have everything sorted and easy to find in the development blog below. If I miss something, let me know and I will try my best to provide it.

What's the code for disabling DOF?

A few months ago I disabled it with 3Dmigoto, but having a code made for the game is better because it wouldn't affect any other game and it would work with all video backends.

And thank you for the textures!

You're super welcome, bud!

The code is as follows:

[EmuState]
EmulationStateId = 0
EmulationIssues =
[Video]
ProjectionHack = 1
PH_SZNear = 1
PH_SZFar = 1
PH_ExtraParam = 0
PH_ZNear = 0
PH_ZFar = 1.0

That's gorgeous Zariel, didn't think the DoF hack would make such big difference.

Now the project has joined forces with Ellie from Farontea’s Skyward Sword Texture Pack!

She has some incredible work and I am proud to be working with her as we make this project a collaboration.
