Skyward Sword Help

Hi all! This is my first post here, and allow me to thank the community and developers to start. I am a Wii and GCN owner, who always hated the Wii and its lack of HD support and dumb motion controls that never seemed to really track right or work correctly for me.

Well, anyway, I am blown away by dolphin and it kicks the real Wii's butt.

Now, to business. I have been playing skyward sword relatively smoothly, but i am annoyed by many little sound drop outs, particularly when the game is loading and the screen fades white or black. It's almost like the sound wobbles..... It seems like slow-down but the frame rate reads steady at 30 Is there anybody who knows what i mean and can help? I'll post my system specs at the end.

I would have just dealt with the audio drop outs; they're not THAT intrusive. The main game play is smooth and fine at 30 fps. I would not have even bothered to post here were it not for some strange little bug that started once i got to the second temple, the volcano temple place. All of the sudden my sail cloth is texture-less and black! I have no idea why?!

Anyway, thank you for any help in advance, PEACE!

AMD FX™ 8350 Eight-Core (4.0 Ghz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
16 Gb Ram

running on D9, with HLE and XAudio2 seems to give the smoothest play through, however it still cuts in and out annoyingly when the screen is fading black or white to load (i.e. opening doors entering caves or going to new areas)

Sounds like Dolphin's shader cache. You may need to play around before it generates enough shaders to not cause any noticeable changes in gameplay, so just continue on and see if it improves.

I haven't played this game in Dolphin, nor am I familiar with all of the issues it may have, but you should try upgrading from 4.0.2 (what your profile says you're using) and try one of the latest development builds first (https://dolphin-emu.org/download).

no, i hadn't tried a newer build yet.

The sail cloth glitch went away as soon as i reloaded my save, which was fine. I played for a quite a while afterward, and made it back to the faron woods where i'm supposed to do some type of trial thing?

Anyway, i plunged the sword down and whatnot, the screen turned white....... and dolphin 4.0.2 immediately crashed. It lost me like two hours of progress!!!!!! sigh..... so i have downloaded build 4.0-5586 and it doesn't seem to run any better. Is my system up to snuff for this game???

I foolishly figured my brand new rig could eat this game alive

so i tried once more (having turned resolution down from 4x to 2x, which didn't increase performance hardly at all) and saved right beforehand this time. As soon as i thrust my sword into the ground, the screen fades white and it starts to "load" but then dolphin just crashes to desktop.

I did a small bit of research, and it seems like they took care of this glitch BEFORE 4.0.2??? So i'm not sure what's going wrong. I'm gonna test it on 4.0-5586 and report back

ok, success entering the trial on the new version. oddly though, with the 30 fps frame limit the game ran at half time, in slow motion. i had to re-enable "auto", which, on the stable version, had the game running at all kinds of odd fps sometimes in superspeed and other times in slowmo.

The audio glitch seems to have disappeared, but that'll require a bit of extra playtime to confirm.

The framerate is hiccup-y but pretty playable as it is now.
