Skylanders Trap Team Characters

So i've recently picked up Trap Team on Dolphin so i could finally finish the game i never could as a kid and i played through the first 5 or so levels without issue. then afterwards it stopped recognizing my characters i put on the virtual portal apart from a very select few (my main guy, Series 2 Dark Spyro and some other randoms) and it always happens a little bit after i start playing, as i can boot up any character at the start of my session (traps work just fine) but afterwards it just sits there and does nothing as i put on other characters. i'd love some help with this if anyone has encountered the same issue as i cant open certain gates without fully restarting the game, break traptanium, etc.

I haven't seen this before myself, but I will try to recreate it on my side. If you could screen record while the issue occurs that would be helpful as well.

so i actually have an update on the situation, it appears if im using Dark Mega Ram Spyro when i start the game, almost every other skylander bugs out? i've recently been starting my playsessions with trapmasters and after that i have never had this issue again. i can try and recreate it myself
Edit: i recreated it very quickly by loading up the game, putting on Dark Mega Ram Spyro as my first guy, playing Level 6, getting up to the first elemental gate (undead) and then trying to swap into Krypt King to open it, but now its stuck just loading the portal and very few characters work anymore apart from Dark Mega Ram Spyro and some others. Traps work just fine btw
