So yesterday I tried out the new version of Dolphin with Ubershaders and I didn't quite obtain some of the results I expected. I'm not sure if this is because I'm doing something wrong or if Dolphin simply hasn't gotten far along enough yet, but I will tell you the details.
When playing Metroid Prime 2 (the Gamecube version) in Dolphin 5.0 stable, I noticed A LOT of stuttering when playing through the game, particularly when firing a charged beam or entering and exiting bodies of water (such as in Torvus bog). The stuttering was extremely noticeable.
When I tried out Dolphin 5.0-4889, I tried out both OpenGL and Direct3D 11 with the Ubershaders set to "Exclusive." I expected there to be a noticeable benefit from this when playing Metroid Prime 2. However, even though the shaders compiled successfully when starting up the game for the first time, the stuttering was just as bad as it had been in Dolphin 5.0 stable. I honestly was unable to tell a difference between the two Dolphin versions when playing Metroid Prime 2.
I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, if that makes a difference.
So, here are my questions: Was I doing something wrong? Are there other settings I should change? Is the stuttering in Metroid Prime 2 caused by something else unrelated to Ubershaders? Has Dolphin not come far along enough yet for this particular game? What do you recommend I do?
