Anyone that knows a lot about lappys please help me on this.. WHAT can i upgrade TO?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nehalem_%28microarchitecture%29

From what im seeing i can upgrade to the Highest of a 940Xm but the 920Xm will be much cheaper ~240$ vs 800$ i get a boost (this is standard not real) from 1.73 to 2.0 and i get a bump from 6mb cache to 8mb cache The TDP is going to jump up 10 but this lappy was originally designed with that CPU in mind so it wont have any problems with that.

The biggest issue i see is GETTING it into the lappy. which yes it will be a pain its one i will endure.

So i have been looking into this and i can upgrade from my current i7 720qm to the i7 920xm and go from a core clock of 1.72 w/four cores running, to an OC running stable of 3.2 on all four cores with the 920xm

This will make a huge increase in performance. Right?

Yeah, but is it worth the money?

I don't think so... For 1000$, you'll get easily a PC with Core i5-2500k and a decent GPU.

Well the CPU can be found online for a cheaper price, specifically the $240 mentioned earlier. If I were the OP, I'd worry about what kinda temps to expect and how to get the actual installation done. High temps could require a new cooling system, and screwing up during the installation would render the laptop inoperable. As for if it's a good deal or not, dunno. Probably if you can afford it, but you could probably also start saving up for a new Ivy Bridge machine, desktop or laptop.
