Sideways wiimote on passthrough?

So I am trying to play Super Mario Bros Wii. Is there a way to get sideways wiimote via passthrough?

To boot, after about 2 minutes of playing it seems to lose contact with the wiimote. This only happens with Super Mario Bros Wii and not other games. I tried Mario Galaxy and Mad Dog McCree. No such issue.

This is what I did.

I got my official Wii motion plus.

I managed to get it working with Dolphin via emulation blue tooth adapter (first time that's worked for me).

I selected real Wii and had the same issue. Sideways not working. So I then selected emulated Wii, I went to configure and selected "upright wiimote"

Then I selected back real Wii and lo and behold everything worked as it should in Super Mario Bros Wii.

Still can't get it to work via passthrough but I guess that's ok?

To get sideways Wii Remote when using a real Wii Remote, you just have to hold the Wii Remote sideways. If you are having connection problems with New Super Mario Bros. Wii but not other games, I don't think it has anything to do with whether the Wii Remote is sideways.

Wasn't working. Did not switch controls. At least not via bluetooth passthrough. Then again I didn't try it via passthrough after selecting "upright" so MAYBE?

Yea it is weird. But no issues via real wiimote and emulation blue tooth adapter.

I actually can confirm that all games I tried but NSMB work correctly on random BT dongle I have in BT pass mode. NSMB works fine with "emulated BT" options.
I guess NSMB does something some BT adapters don't support due to its rarity or does something adapter-specific/ill-defined thing that just works somewhere and doesn't for other adapters.
