Shoulder Button Sensitivity on Gamecube Controller

The tiniest tap on my L button causes me to light press immediately. Which causes me to do unintended inputs on games like SSBM. My R button doesn't have this problem, only the L button. I rest my index finger on the L button so it happens quite often. However, this problem doesn't happen on console, so is this something I can fix through Dolphin? I want to be able to light press but have the emulator detect a light press a bit further down. I tried messing with the threshold but I don't really understand it. It's set to 90 now(default). Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I am using Dolphin version: 5.0-321
